Description

HEALTH & SAFETY IN THE TEXTILES CLASSROOM/STUDIO

An online course for anyone working in a textiles studio/classroom, which includes a level 2 accreditation through CIEH (Chartered Institute for Environmental Health).

Teaching textiles is both a challenging and exciting experience for students, but it is imperative that textiles activities take place in a safe and secure environment.

Best practice comes from staff who are knowledgeable about relevant aspects of Health and Safety and who feel confident in managing and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for both their students and staff.

Staff should be able to identify hazards and assess risks, and quickly determine how best to minimise, remove, or control such risks within the teaching environment.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR

This course is designed specifically for all who teach and support in textiles activities in schools, colleges and studios, including teachers, trainers, technicians, teaching assistants / higher-level teaching assistants, trainee teachers, special needs support staff and textiles club leaders.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course is divided into units with quizzes and scenario activities to complete. In each unit, there is information covering all aspects of health and safety in the textiles studio/classroom, delivered through downloadable pdfs, handouts and resources, with questions for you to answer at the end of each unit to test your knowledge.

We will also share great links and resources that we recommend.

The course has been planned to create a learning journey for you, that culminates in an online assessment for Level 2 accreditation with CEIH.
